i've noticed lately that a lot of people don't know what to do with black women... black men included. it's as though they assume that we are inherently hostile, angry, and aggressive; like any encounter with us will be unpleasant. Michelle Obama was on The View today, and the aol story focused on how she used the opportunity to "soften " her image as an unpatriotic, angryblackwoman. at no point did they mention that Cindy McCain was on the same show a month earlier... is it possible that America's discomfort with black women might hinder the election of a black male president? food for thought and discussion...
